I have had the honor of my work being featured in numerous tattoo books during my career, but non have ever been on the scope of the monolithic BLOODWORK: BODIES book.

The tattooing that has been captured in this book represents such an amazing scope of what tattooing is capable of. This Book is a must have for any serious fan of tattooing.

Harajuko Lovers

Harajuko Lovers

Got to do an extremely delicate rendition of one of the Harajuko Lover’s girls today… made my day!
I love this design line of characters by Gwen Stefani’s group the Harajuko Lovers!
This image was taken from a painting-style design of theirs and adapted to tattoo. The entire piece measures less than 4″ high, and the details in the flowers and hair were exquisite.
This is the second lover’s piece I’ve done, and I loooooove them! Keep them coming!

APESHIT!!

Hehehehe sorry for the title ;)

I had the opportunity to participate in the most INCREDIBLE art show last weekend at the Historic Icehouse venue.
With 80 other artists, including painters, sculptors, tattooists, and graffitti artists contending for space, time and attention, my goal was not only to showcase my art, but to make sure that people remembered the name.

I wound up scaling the scaffolding to get half way up one of the Icehouse’s famous cathedral walls to hang a huge 4×8 foot painting, two hand-sewn banners, and taking advantage of the buildings exit foyer to create a temple housing my current paintings. I painted live along with artists such as Joness Jones, Yai Nosaur, Banding Hendrix, Tone Ly, and Answer Martin. With help from my awesome apprentice Morgan Harrington, and entourage, we made an EPIC event the valley is sure to remember.

Major thanks to Peter for letting me put together such an awesome installation, and to Jenn Deveroux for putting tother such an amazing event. Special thanks to all of the hundreds of art fans that came out to support. I appreciate every single one of you!! Thanks for making it a night to remember.

PS- In the rush of preparing for the event, however, I did neglect to bring my camera, so if anyone has more/better pictures of the event, please dont hesitate to email them to me directly or send a link!
a thousand thanks :)

Simplicity

Buuusy busy day at the shop today…

It’s always nice to finish with something
fun and carefree like this ;)

I love how people are always so shy about these kind of requests… after seeing my larger work they will be almost embarrassed to “bother” me with a small request. It is not a bother at all, a lot of my favorite pieces are these little ones ;)

These are often the easiest and most fun, and a great opportunity to meet someone new and introduce them to tattooing :)

Capoeira

Had the rare pleasure of getting to do a Capoeira related tattoo for an instructor from my old training ground at the Axe Capoeira AZ academy!

This is one of only two capoeira tattoos I’ve ever done despite my strong ties with both art forms. The other one was one of my first tattoos ever!

It  has been some years, so it was great to reminisce about training and performing and swap stories about Brazil…

Cant wait to get a chance to return!

Inspiration in… Horiyoshi III

Horiyoshi III

“To get a full-body tattoo takes years of suffering, and that requires maturing as a human, learning to experience and overcome pain. It is as if with each piercing of the needle, they become stronger and more complete.” – Horiyoshi III
One of my mentor’s favorite tattooists, he became in instant idol when I was introduced to his work. Horiyoshi III is a hailed as one of the best traditional horishis and is an icon to us all.

Creative Days

Times have finally calmed down, allowing me a little bit of time to catch up on some artwork… so I’m taking advantage :)

The Skeleton King…

Finally Finished an elegant skull painting on this EMG EC1000 for a budding new musician…

The guitar was so beautiful that I could barely bring myself to touch it! But I did… and this was what was born!

The Skeleton King was born.

Thanks Alex,
